Working with schools
Carry Hope Naloxone’s school initiative is focused on increasing safety and preparedness on campuses by providing free Narcan (naloxone) and hands-on training. The program works to ensure that both staff and students understand how to recognize and respond to an overdose, creating a safer environment where immediate action can be taken in critical situations.
About the project
Starting point
This initiative began two years ago with Westlake High School, where Carry Hope Naloxone first introduced Narcan access and overdose response education on campus. That initial effort served as a proof of concept, showing how impactful it can be when schools are properly equipped to handle emergencies.
What we have done so far
Since launching at Westlake, the program has expanded across the entire Eanes ISD district and into Austin ISD. In addition to working with schools, Carry Hope Naloxone has partnered with both Eanes ISD Police Department and Austin ISD Police Department, helping supply Narcan and support their preparedness efforts. This growth reflects a strong commitment to scaling impact across multiple layers of the school system.
End result
The ultimate goal is to ensure that every school and every school police department has consistent, free access to Narcan and is fully prepared to respond to an overdose. By building a system where no campus is unprepared, Carry Hope Naloxone aims to create a safer, more responsive environment for students, staff, and the broader community.
